💧 Nourish Your Skin Naturally: DIY Non-Toxic Moisturizer + Lip Balm

As women, we’re taught to care for our skin — but what if our self-care routine is quietly disrupting our hormones?

Many conventional beauty products contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. These toxins can mimic estrogen in the body (aka xenoestrogens), contributing to hormone imbalances, skin issues, fatigue, and even autoimmune flare-ups.

And guess what? Your skin absorbs up to 60% of what you put on it. That means your favorite lotion or lip balm could be impacting more than just your glow.

🌿 Why Go Non-Toxic?

Switching to non-toxic beauty products helps reduce your body’s toxic load and supports:

  • 💛 Hormone balance

  • 🌱 Liver detox pathways

  • ✨ Healthy skin microbiome

  • 💩 Less burden on the gut + immune system

One of the easiest places to start? Moisturizer and lip balm — things we use every single day.

🧴 DIY Non-Toxic Hydrating Moisturizer + Lip Balm

This recipe is clean, effective, and so simple. It melts into your skin, locks in moisture, and can double as a nourishing lip balm, hand salve, or belly balm!

🌸 Ingredients:

  • 8 oz shea butter (1 cup or half a 16 oz package)

  • 1 cup beeswax (pellets or grated)

  • ½ cup coconut oil (unrefined)

  • ¼ cup olive oil (organic, extra virgin)

  • Few drops of Vitamin E
  • Essential oil if you wanted scented. I love vanilla

🥣 Directions:

  1. Add shea butter, beeswax, coconut oil, and olive oil to a double boiler (or a heat-safe bowl over a pot of simmering water).

  2. Stir occasionally until everything is fully melted and combined.

  3. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  4. Add essential oil, vitamin E, & stir.
  5. Pour into small glass jars or metal tins for storage.

  6. Let it set at room temperature, or place in the fridge to speed up the process.

Optional: Add a few drops of lavender or frankincense essential oil (after removing from heat) for extra soothing benefits.

💡 Tips:

  • Use it on your face, lips, hands, or anywhere you need hydration.

  • Store in a cool, dry place. Use within 6–12 months.

  • Great gift idea for friends who are just starting their clean beauty journey!
